Day 14. Giants in the Land
This was their report to Moses: “We entered the land you sent us to explore, and it is indeed a bountiful country—a land flowing with milk and honey. Here is the kind of fruit it produces. But the people living there are powerful, and their towns are large and fortified. We even saw giants there, the descendants of Anak! The Amalekites live in the Negev, and the Hittites, Jebusites, and Amorites live in the hill country. The Canaanites live along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea and along the Jordan Valley.” But Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses. “Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!” But the other men who had explored the land with him disagreed. “We can’t go up against them! They are stronger than we are!”(Numbers 13:27-31)
The Bible tells us that twelve men went to Canaan and explored it for forty days. Two of the men came back, believing they could possess the land. The other ten came back with a report which stated that the giants in the land were too strong for them. Many people fear what they perceive as too big to overcome, like the men who feared what they saw in the land of Canaan. They could have prevailed over the giants, just as we can overcome bad habits, but when we allow fear and doubt to distract us from our purpose, we forfeit all kinds of blessings and opportunities.
What do I fear? What is keeping me from receiving God’s best? Your fears may seem giant-size, even paralyzing, but the more you trust God, the less fear will dominate you. Two of the twelve men believed they could possess the land of Canaan because they kept their eyes on God. Likewise, believe that God wants you to triumph over everything that prevents you from prospering in your health. God will help you to face your giants. The Lord of heaven and earth will help you to conquer your fears.
Prayer: Thank you Lord that you are the God of miracles. You are able to slay those things in my life that seem so insurmountable. I trust you Lord because you have proven yourself so many times in the past and you have not changed. Even though my situations have become too big for me to handle, you remain ever consistent in providing for me. Those things which seem so impossible for me to conquer, it is totally possible for you to tackle. Because of you Lord, I am not just an overcomer, but I am more than a conqueror. Through Christ, I can do all things! Hallelujah!
